The Fox Lake Police Department announces results of distracted driving enforcement
Fox Lake, IL — Between April 1st, 2022 and April 30th, 2022, the Fox Lake Police Department participated in Illinois’ Distracted Driving Enforcement campaign, bringing awareness to area residents and issuing 63 citations. Increased enforcement was part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. During the month-long campaign, the Fox Lake Police Department issued:
- 27 hands-free citations
- 6 uninsured motorists citations
- 21 speeding citations
- 7 other traffic offense citations
- 1 DUI arrest
“Distracted Driving Awareness Month allowed the Fox Lake Police Department to bring a heightened awareness to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior,” said Chief Jimmy Lee
The Fox Lake Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.
Using your phone in anything other than hands-free mode in Illinois is not only dangerous, it is illegal. Break the cycle. Drop It and Drive.
The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
