Village Administrator – Role & Responsibilities

The Village Administrator, appointed by the Mayor and Village Board of Trustees, serves as the chief administrative officer for the Village. This role provides leadership and oversight for all departments, ensuring efficient, transparent, and responsive municipal operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing Village Board policies and coordinating daily operations
  • Managing the annual budget and capital improvement planning
  • Leading strategic planning and policy research
  • Overseeing employee relations, insurance, and risk management
  • Administering public services and vendor contracts
  • Supporting intergovernmental relations and community engagement
  • Preparing Village Board agendas and facilitating public communication

The Administrator also supervises department heads across Public Works, Police, Parks & Recreation, Community & Economic Development, and Water Reclamation.


Administration Department Overview

The Administration Department supports the Village Administrator and handles a wide range of internal operations. The team includes the Village Administrator, Assistant to the Village Administrator, and Administration Management Analyst.

Department functions include:

  • Human resources: hiring, onboarding, and employee support
  • Insurance and benefits administration for the Village and staff
  • FOIA and OMA compliance
  • Website and social media management
  • Coordination of Village-wide initiatives and interdepartmental support
